War in the Americas: What’s Next, What Can We Do?

Cuba, Colombia, Immigrants in the Crosshairs -- a mutual and necessary discussion.

Washington’s kidnapping of Venezuelan President Maduro and its claim that it will “run Venezuela” and “take back our oil” is a klaxon call to all opponents of gunboat diplomacy and the so-called Donroe Doctrine.

Meanwhile on U.S. soil militarized forces snatch people of color without warrants, gassing and sometimes shooting and killing protesters –while working people in Chicago mobilize to defend our neighbors and the Minnesota Labor Federation calls a state-wide day of “No work, no school, no shopping” on January 23rd.

And though Colombia may be next, Cuba is after all Washington’s ultimate target in the Americas. Cuba –which has maintained its sovereignty, free healthcare, and international medical solidarity despite 65 years of crushing U.S. sanctions– is a “bad example” in Washington’s eyes. Over 90% of Cuba’s parliament are Union members. “Cuba,” declared Trump, “is going down for the count.”

Let’s talk together about this critical situation for all working people!
