Content: The State of Illinois African Descent-Citizens Reparations Commission (ADCRC) will convene a public hearing in Chicago to advance statewide efforts toward reparative justice for Black Americans who were harmed by policies descended from American Slavery. The hearing will be held at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center on April 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. Expert speakers Clayola Brown, Dr. William A. Darity Jr., A. Kirsten Mullen, and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Brooks will join the commission to discuss findings from the harms report, including the racial wealth gap, the role of religious imperatives, and the economic impact of stolen labor. In addition to featured speakers, ADCRC encourages members of the public to participate and share their experiences and visions to help shape future policy for Illinoisans descended from enslavement.
