Higher ed workers across Chicago will join a nationwide movement for resistance against the Trump administration’s unprecedented war on colleges, universities, students, faculty, and staff. We are organizing to demand a better higher education system that serves the public good: one that is affordable, protects scientific research, free speech, and academic freedom from political assault, and stands up for students’ right to learn.

Our coalition will rally around higher education issues at two regional hubs around the city on Friday, May 1.

The central hub will meet at the East Lawn outside of University Hall at the University of Illinois – Chicago, 601 S. Morgan St., Chicago, IL, 60607. We will begin with a rally featuring speakers and leaders from the higher education sector in Chicago. When the rally concludes, the central hub will join the larger May Day march at Daley Plaza downtown.
