Join Project Censored at the Haymarket House on May 7th for an hour-long round-table discussion featuring voices from The Progressive, Truthout, The Objective, Respair Media, In These Times, and Cicero Independiente. Doors open at 6:45 PM, with the panel beginning at 7:15 PM. Together, we’ll discuss the future of press freedom in today’s social and political climate and honor the tradition of independent journalism.

Conversation will be followed by a celebratory gathering of like-minded community members, with opportunities to shop local indie media and enjoy snacks from Nabala Cafe!

Come be part of an evening of solidarity and celebration as we honor Project Censored’s 50th anniversary and the independent media that makes it all possible.

Project Censored promotes media literacy, independent journalism, and democracy. They are also committed to exposing and opposing news censorship.

ACCESSIBILITY

There are a couple steps leading up to the front entrance on Buena Ave. The ramp entrance can be accessed from the back parking lot, via Clarendon Avenue, just let the event organizers ([email protected]) know so the door can be propped open. The event will all take place on one level and all restrooms and hallways are wheelchair accessible. Multi-stall restrooms are located in the kitchen and hallway and a single occupancy restroom is located to the right of the stairwell. We also have a HEPA air recirculator in our main event space.

TRANSIT AND PARKING:

Haymarket House is located at 800 W. Buena Ave on the corner of Buena and Clarendon in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. The 146, 151, and 36 CTA buses stop nearby. The CTA Red Line Sheridan and Wilson stations are each about a 12-15 min walk/roll away. There is free street parking in the surrounding area. Outside of school hours, parking for a fee is available nearby at the Walt Disney Magnet School lot at 4149 N Clarendon Ave. or the Brenneman School lot at 4251 N. Clarendon Ave, both are about a block away. Paid parking is also available through parking apps like Spot Hero.
