Content: Help spread the word @ the PRIDE PARADE and Make the Demand! – ABOLISH ICE! ¡ABOLIR ICE! ICE terror has not stopped! Hard working families are still being broken up. Kids left without parents. Parents wondering where their kids are. Communities living in fear of shopping, going to work and school. People of all ages detained and deported simply for doing what generations of Americans before them did – crossing borders to escape poverty, violence and persecution, and seek better lives. The rich and white cross borders with ease. They pit working class communities against each other, using racism to divide and conquer. Then they laugh all the way to the bank as they pay little or no taxes, cheat working people out of decent pay, and cut their benefits to better pay for wars to control other parts of the world – Iran, Palestine, Lebanon and Venezuela to name just the most recent examples. Working people in all countries suffer the consequences. We invite you to join Organized Communities Against Deportations’ and the Gay Liberation Network’s “ABOLISH ICE! ¡ABOLIR ICE!” contingent in this year’s Pride Parade – Sunday, June 28th. Most politicians want to keep ICE intact or “reform” it. We must demand that it be abolished. That people who’ve been detained are freed. That people intimidated into “voluntary” deportation be returned to their homes in the U.S. Abolish ICE / Abolir ICE is just the first of many demands we need to enact to turn the corner on the inequality and bigotry that has increasingly enveloped this country over the past decade. Here’s how you can join the contingent: 1. Please plan on meeting at the southeast corner of Sheridan Road and Dakin Street (just south of “Sheridan” stop on the Red line el) at 12 noon sharp on Sunday, June 28. Representatives of the contingent will guide you to our contingent location from there. 2. Please register for the contingent so that we can share additional info with you. This is where you can indicate to us mobility and other accessibility needs which we will do our best to accommodate: https://forms.gle/QszojkkvGdP72W6QA While GLN and OCAD are the core organizers of this year's contingent, we welcome other organizations who wish to endorse and participate in the action. Please fill out this form (https://forms.gle/CjgfGQ3UyXrwBhoW6) to have your organization included as an endorser of the contingent and receive information about the parade organizers' rules.
