Join us for our next live show of @niolvido.niperdon.radio on Sunday, July 5 at 3:00 p.m. as we welcome Alma de Izote and CEIBA Colectiva for a conversation on Bukele, authoritarianism, and how we talk about politics within our families and communities. Featuring Rafa Duarte and Rebekah Amaya.

You can listen live on 105.5 FM WLPN-LP Chicago, Lumpen Radio, or online at https://lumpenradio.com.

Drawing from CEIBA Colectiva’s zine “How to Talk to Your Family About Bukele,” this episode opens up questions the diaspora are living every day: How do we speak with loved ones who see the Bukele regime as a solution to violence? How do we navigate disagreement shaped by war, migration, trauma, and survival?

Alma de Izote is a collective of Salvadoreñes and allies in Chicago committed to the well-being and struggles of social movements in El Salvador. Their name, “spirit of the izote,” references El Salvador’s national flower, the izote—known for its resilience and resistance. It is also a plant that is part of everyday life, eaten in dishes like eggs with izote or rellenos, grounding resistance in both memory and food, struggle and care.

CEIBA Colectiva (Centroamericanos en batalla antiimperialista) is a diasporic collective dedicated to strengthening Central American connections between Chicagoland and the homelands through political education, historical memory, and organizing rooted in anti-imperialist struggle.

The conversation is not only about Bukele—it is about how we hold disagreement, memory, and love in the same space. This is political education.
