Content: Join facilitators from Chicago Educators for Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace Chicago, and Drop the ADL from Schools Chicago for a three-day teacher institute on the dangers of the ADL's influence in our schools. We will learn about the history of the ADL as an organization upholding U.S. empire, how we can teach about antisemitism from a collective liberation lens, and create a network of support for planning curricula and teaching truth. We're excited to also welcome Emmaia Gelman @mishmoshkeleh, educator, activist, and author of The Anti-Defamation League and the Racial State, a critical history of the Anti-Defamation League as a Cold War neoconservative institution (UC Press, 2026) and @nora_lester_murad educator, activist, and author of Rethinking Schools article "Educators Beware: The Anti-Defamation League is Not The Social Justice Partner It Claims to Be" The institute is generously hosted by Be the Change Collaborative and we'll be meeting each day at Somos Arte in Humboldt Park from 1-3pm, July 28th-30th. We encourage you to sign up for all three sessions! 6 CPDUs will be provided upon completion. Accessibility note: For our collective care, safety, and accessibility, KN95/N95 masks will be required and provided. Snacks and drinks are available in a separate area.
