In Spring 2025, almost two years after the enactment of the Pretrial Fairness Act, the Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice (INPJ) trained community court-watchers to observe detention hearings in Cook County. Their findings and INPJ’s recommendations for improving implementation of the Pretrial Fairness Act are featured in the new report “Changing Landscapes: Community Court-Watchers' Observations of the Second Year of Pretrial Fairness Act Implementation”.
During this event, attendees will learn about the court-watchers’ findings and hear from legislators and court stakeholders about how we can continue to make our pretrial legal system more just.
