Can we as a society transform our “Ordinary Insanity,” our complacency regarding nuclear weapons?

On August 9, we will show the thought-provoking documentary, “An Ordinary Insanity”, which describes our nuclear dilemma through the perspective of renowned activist Daniel Ellsberg.

After the film, Jack Lawlor, leader of the Chicago chapter of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, and members of CAPA’s Foreign Policy Working Group will discuss missed opportunities to curb and diminish the risks of nuclear weapons as well as what we can do to reinvigorate the the movement to stop the insanity.

Following the discussion, attendees are invited to take part in a walking meditation, led by origami paper cranes, going from the library to Evanston’s Arrington Lagoon, where we will have brief readings and a commemoration of the over 200,000 souls who lost their lives at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
