Content: 🪧 RALLY AT COOK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 130 BOARD MEETING 🗓️ TONIGHT: Tuesday, September 15 The Blue Island School Board voted to outsource all custodial positions, laying off 31 of 37 custodial staff. SEIU Local 73 has filed charges with Illinois Education Labor Relations. The mass layoffs follow a long history of racist and anti-union attacks by the administration and school board on SEIU’s union members. Instead of honoring their new union contract that would also increase custodian’s pay, they want to cut corners — laying off dedicated workers and ensuring students and families are prevented from starting school in a clean, safe environment!
