A mighty battle unfolded earlier this year in Minneapolis when the working class of Minnesota shut down the city in a general strike on January 23, forcing Trump’s ICE army into retreat. To punish them for their role in the most significant blow against Trump and his agenda, the Department of Homeland Security indicted 15 activists in Minnesota on baseless charges—many of them union members, teachers, healthcare workers, carpenters, and electricians. This kind of political intimidation can’t just be fought out in the courts—we need a massive public defense campaign demanding to drop the charges against the Minnesota 15 and all anti-ICE protesters, and to defend the right to protest, organize, and strike.

The Minnesota 15 Defense Committee, which includes defendants, union leaders, community activists, and members of Socialist Alternative, is calling for nationwide solidarity events on October 3 to broaden and strengthen the defense campaign. To meet that call, Chicago Socialist Alternative will be leading up a mega-canvass to spread awareness of the defense campaign and raise critical funds to help the MN15 and others facing similar prosecution fight against state repression!

As part of our mega-canvass, you can help us talk with Chicagoans about the need to build our movement and direct funds to help defend the MN 15 and others facing similar repression. You will have the opportunity to talk with our community members at neighborhood tables alongside SAlt organizers, canvass local businesses, and flyer our communities with more information!
