Mennonite Action Chicago and Advocates4Justice warmly invite you into solidarity and celebration through poetry, art, photography, dance, and fiction at the Living Water meetinghouse (6808 N Ashland, Chicago) on October 11 from 4:30 to 7pm. Award-winning poet Kat Freeze will be MCing the event. The performing artists include Sayeda Qader, Aysha Affaneh, El Ibrahim Dawud; Nathan Perrin and Ruth Goring will read brief pieces as well. Ahmed Elqattawi, one of Refaat Alareer's students, will be describing his friendship with Alareer and reading some of his poetry; there will also be a reading from Perfect Victims by Sawsan Abunbaker. Richard Cahan will show/discuss his Palestine photography. Watermelon Sisters will sell artwork that directly aids Palestinians. We invite $10 donations at the door, but no one will be turned away. There will be dabke dancing, and food! Come join us in collective liberation!
