Content: We are pleased to announce that on October 27th from 6:30 to 8, we will be holding an event to expand how we think about water systems. We are familiar with how increased storm intensity from climate collapse is already causing persistent flooding across the city, and will only get worse without significant upgrades to infrastructure. We talk less about the interaction between the ways Chicago has modified the hydrology of the region, climate change, and long stretches of time. Will the reversal of the rivers remain viable? Should we worry about increased leaching from the slag that fills the marshes of the South Side? And, what can we do now and over the coming centuries to make the region resilient to the climate and increase our harmony with nature? To answer some of these questions and complicate others we’ll be joined by elected @mwrd_of_greater_chicago commissioner Sharon Waller, the first water engineer to ever to help govern the agency and a proponent of the need for climate resilience. This event will include a structured discussion followed by a Q&A. Massive thanks to @skunkcabbagebooks for having us back as well! Please RSVP at bit.ly/47zBY7a
