On November 3, 2006, Chicago musician and antiwar activist immolated himself in protest against the then-raging war in Iraq, with hardly any coverage from local or national media. A grassroots campaign called "I Heard You Malachi" arose to raise awareness of Malachi's sacrifice.

In early November 2026, with America mired in another war in the Middle East, a new campaign inspired by "I Heard You Malachi" will commemorate the 20thanniversary of the sacrifice of Malachi Ritscher with two events. This post marks details of one of those events.
