CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Activist Coalition for Justice will host a peaceful protest on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Ida B. Wells Drive and South Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago to amplify the demand for transparency, accountability, and justice in the case of Nolan Wells.
• Calling for a special prosecutor to review the case
• Demanding a full and transparent investigation into the death of Nolan Wells
• Urging the Department of Justice to examine the circumstances surrounding the case
• Encouraging community leaders, faith leaders, public figures, and organizations to use their platforms to call for justice
• Standing in solidarity with peaceful demonstrations already taking place across the country
The protest follows the September 21, 2026 decision by a Jackson County grand jury to return a “no true bill.” Organizers say the decision has intensified public concern and strengthened calls for an independent review, greater accountability, and full transparency in the handling of the case.
“This is a moment for moral clarity, public accountability, and peaceful civic action,” said Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef, human rights activist and organizer with the Chicago Activist Coalition for Justice. “We are calling on the community to stand together, demand answers, and continue the pursuit of justice for Nolan Wells through peaceful protest and organized public pressure.”
Organizers are raising concerns about whether all relevant evidence and questions were fully presented and reviewed. The coalition is calling for an independent process that addresses public concerns, restores community confidence, and centers the pursuit of truth and justice.
