Content: After more than a year and a half of research, writing, collaboration, and a whole lot of love, I’m so excited to finally share “Seeing Sounds: The Sonic and Visual Art of the Dungill Sisters” with y’all! Join me on November 5th at @dabookjoint for an evening of art, music, conversation, and community as we honor the remarkable creative legacy of four sisters from Chicago’s South Side. I can’t wait to share this special moment with you! All are welcome and will receive a free copy of the book✨ ABOUT THE BOOK 📚 A labor of love made possible by some wonderful collaborators: This program is supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art (@terraamericanart) and the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation (@gddonnelley).
“Seeing Sounds” is the first publication dedicated to documenting the musical and visual art histories of Elaine, Melody, Gloria, and Harriette Dungill. Members of the Dungill Family Orchestra and prolific visual artists, the sisters cultivated extraordinary creative lives that bridged sound, color, and ancestral memory.
