Content: Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, member of Fine Gael and Minister of Health of the Republic of Ireland, is going to be at the Union League Club for a private breakfast hosted by the Irish American Partnership the morning of Friday 3/14. She is visiting as part of a larger delegation of Irish politicians being sent across the country to celebrate St. Patrick’s day and strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and the RoI. Since the start of the genocide there has been a popular call for all Irish political parties in both the North and the South to boycott this delegation to the U.S. and refuse to participate. This year, Sinn Fein has heeded the call in light of President Trump’s comments about the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, but Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are staying the course. Chicago Irish for Palestine will be protesting outside the club before and after the event in solidarity with the people of Palestine and Ireland, to amplify their demands that Ireland stop allowing US arms to be transported through Irish Airspace and Shannon Airport. This dereliction of duty is both a breach of the Irish Constitution’s position on neutrality, as well as laws controlling the trade in weapons through the country. Chicago Irish for Palestine is requesting that the people of Chicago join in solidarity with our Irish and Irish American comrades standing up to Irish complicity in genocide. St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago presents an opportunity to demonstrate our solidarity on a national stage and gives us the ear of important Irish policy makers and the Irish American diaspora in general. Bring your flags, your keffiyehs, and your shamrocks and let’s show the world what it really means to be Irish!
