Content: Chicago activists and organizers, I hope you will join me on July 19 for a workshop on how to facilitate a public assembly. RSVP at the link below. One of the challenges we face in mobilizing large numbers of people to "save democracy" is that many people don't feel they have a meaningful relationship with democracy. Public assemblies can create opportunities for people to hear one another and make decisions together. Whether among neighbors or in moments of convergence during mass protest, public assemblies can help us rebuild the social and political bonds we’ll need to fight fascism. This training will be led by Denzel Caldwell, an organizer with the Black Nashville Assembly (BNA). The BNA is a quarterly assembly of Black people in Nashville. At BNA assemblies, participants discuss the issues that impact Black people's lives, generate transformative solutions, and take collective action to implement those solutions. Schedule: Doors open at 12:00 PM (lunch provided) Training begins at 12:30 PM
Date/Time: July 19, 2025, noon
Location: Haymarket House, 800 W. Buena Ave, Chicago
