🇸🇻 ❤️‍🔥 Join us on Saturday, March 28th from 4-8pm for a commemoration celebrating the life and resistance of San Óscar Romero. Killed during mass in 1980 by U.S.-backed death squads for being an outspoken defender of the poor, Romero advocated for popular social movements in the face of state oppression and was a voice and legal advocate for the disappeared and incarcerated. With live music, historic testimony, food, and an art exhibition with revolutionary graphics from the 1980s, we’ll be threading Romero’s historic legacy with on the ground updates from El Salvador and asking—and we want your help responding!—“What would Romero say today?” + “Where do we see Romero in the contemporary struggle?”

All are welcome, and the entire event will be in both English and Spanish, with simultaneous translation between the two. FREE for everyone, with a suggested donation towards social movements in El Salvador. Join us for community and discussion connecting Romero’s legacy of denouncing oppression with the contemporary condition in El Salvador under Bukele’s regime of militarized repression and crackdowns on organized popular movements. Learn how to get involved and echo calls for freedom for political prisoners, human rights defenders & land and water defenders ‼️ freedom for victims of arbitrary arrest ‼️ and the end of the state of exception!

“And if they kill me, I will be resurrected in the Salvadoran people.”
– Mons. Romero
