Please join us for a special occasion to be with 'movement mama' Mary L. Johnson, and hear her and her son's insights from over a half century of struggle.

With activist, Seth Donnelly, who was Mary L's 'running buddy' while director of the Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty in the '90's. Seth is co-founder of Taxpayers Against Genocide.

As a teenager in the early 1970's, Michael was tortured by Chicago police detective Jon Burge and Mary L was the first person to file a complaint against him.

Michael is among nearly 50 survivors of torture who remain in Illinois prisons. Most, including Michael, have applied for Executive Clemency from Governor JB Pritzker, but Pritzker has stopped granting clemency. That means refusing to reunite loved ones and to correct atrocious racial injustice. It means failing to embrace the superpower of freedom unique to governors and presidents.
