Next year the Illinois Department of Correction will incarcerate as many as eight-thousand individuals as a result of technical violations of Illinois’ Mandatory Supervised Release laws. This reflects the harsh reality that Illinois’ supervision laws are designed to surveil and restrict individuals recently released from prison, not help them.

Please join us on Thursday, November 14th at 5pmCT at the Chicago Torture Justice Center (CTJC) located at 6337 S. Woodlawn for a facilitated workshop in collaboration with the National Parole Transformation Project (NPTP) on navigating parole, also known in Illinois as Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR). Topics will include:

- Basic know-you-rights information regarding Illinois MSR laws
- Tips and best-practices on avoiding and navigating MSR revocations and parole violations
- Strategies for better supporting people navigating supervision
- Avenues for reforming Illinois supervision laws
- Food and light refreshments provided.
