On July 5, 1962, Algeria declared its independence after 132 of French colonialism and 1.5 million martyrs. Building on Teaching Palestine: Pedagogical Praxis and the Indivisibility of Justice, this fourth virtual Open Classroom in the Palestine: Ethnic Studies Perspective course, banned by SFSU but launched independently with the support of grassroots international movements as part of the Popular University for Gaza/Palestine, takes up Fanon’s classic, The Wretched of the Earth. Scholars from Haiti, Palestine, Puerto Rico and Vietnam will unpack each concept in the title, drawing lessons from different struggles and offering transformative strategies for decolonizing the curriculum and the liberation of our campuses and society.
