Content: Legalizing BDS in Illinois, and Getting Back to NEUTRAL Many members of the Illinois legislature have asserted that our governing body should have a neutral position in international affairs. Unfortunately, our state legislature already involved itself in Israel/Palestine when it passed SB 1761/ Public Act 099-0128 in 2015. The Anti Boycott Divestment Sanctions Bill, puts Israel in a special category, as the ONLY nation that Illinois insulates from boycott, divestment, and sanctions – a legitimate and long-effective, constitutionally protected form of nonviolent protest. While Illinois censures the human rights violations of other countries, it punishes any company that takes a stand against these violations in Israel and forbids pension funds from making human rights-based investment decisions. Join us on Saturday, February 15 from 3-4 pm at Lake Street Church to learn more about Illinois' anti-BDS laws, and the tangible actions you can take to overturn them and get Illinois back to neutral! Presented by members of Evanston Ceasefire and the Illinois Coalition for Human Rights. This event is free -- and we'll have snacks! FREE. Time: Doors open at 2:45, event runs 3-4 pm Parking: Street parking #evanston
